Takumi Watanabe

Tate High School

Message :

I was the homeroom teacher of Ms. Hiromi Maeda who was shot to death almost execution style at a supermarket in Hachioji-City, Tokyo. At that time she was in the second grade of the Metropolitan Tate High School and was engaged in a side job there. Since then I am taking actions related to gun crimes in order to prevent Japan from turning into a gun society. The motto is "Never make a similar victim like Ms. Maeda."

The gun society in the U.S. has already killed many innocent Japanese. I want to associate with the families of those gun victims, support them and raise an awareness to prevent Japan from becoming a gun society.

We tend to think Japan will never be a gun society as our history and culture are different from that of the U.S. However, it is not so long ago that gun crimes rapidly increased for the young generation in the U.S. We Japanese should not be optimistic considering the fact that social problems will directly influence the young generation.

Illegal drugs like stimulants are already spreading among the young generation. Foreign crime organizations are always targeting Japan as an attractive gun market. While illicit possession of guns is increasing among ordinary people, the possibility that gun influences will increase in the young generation must be very high. Once if guns are brought into the young generation, Japan will directly follow the path to a gun society at an accelerated rate. I want to do something before it is too late. I am willing to talk about these things as much as I can. Please contact us if you can give us the chance and place for this purpose.
